Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from counselling?
Counselling is a confidential and supportive space where you can slow down, reflect, and explore what you are experiencing without judgment. We will work collaboratively to understand your concerns, identify your needs and goals, and develop strategies that support meaningful change.
Do I need to have a specific problem to come to counselling?
Not at all. Many people come because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply want support navigating a difficult period of life.
What counselling approaches do you use?
I use a person-centered and trauma-informed approach and draw from several evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work. The approach is tailored to you rather than using a one-size-fits-all method.
How long will I need counselling?
There is no set number of sessions that applies to everyone. Some people benefit from short-term support, while others choose longer-term counselling. We will regularly check in about your progress and determine together what feels appropriate for your needs and goals.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Your privacy and confidentiality are important. Information shared in counselling is kept confidential within the limits of applicable professional and legal requirements. These limits will be discussed with you at the beginning of counselling.
Do you offer virtual counselling?
Yes. Details about virtual appointments and how to connect will be provided when your appointment is confirmed.
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
If something in your life feels difficult to manage, keeps coming up, or is affecting your relationships, work, emotions, or overall well-being, counselling may be worth exploring. You do not have to wait until things become overwhelming to ask for support.
What is the cost of individual counselling, and do you acept insurance?
Individual counselling sessions are $140 for a 50-minute appointments. Receipts are provided after each session and can be submitted to your extended health insurance provider for reimbursement, where Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) services are covered under your plan.
Coverage and reimbursement amounts vary between insurance providers and individual plans, so please check with your provider to confirm your coverage before booking.
